Men's Basketball Returns Home On Saturday To Take On Washburn

Saturday's Game At A Glance
• The Lindenwood men's basketball team will head into its holiday break with three home games in a four-day span. That stretch starts this Saturday when the Lions take on Washburn in a 3:30 p.m. MIAA game.
 
• Lindenwood enters the game with a 7-2 overall record, and a 1-1 mark in conference play. The Lions saw their five-game winning streak snapped last Saturday with a 97-71 loss at Missouri Southern.
 
• Washburn is one of the hottest teams in the MIAA as it has won five straight games, including a 78-71 conference win over Nebraska-Kearney last Saturday. The Ichabods are 7-3 overall and 2-0 in MIAA action.
 
• Lindenwood trails the all-time series with Washburn by a 5-1 margin, and it has lost three straight in the series history. The Lions have played the Ichabods much better at home, winning one of three games, and outscoring Washburn by an average of 64.0-61.3.
 
• Last season, Washburn won the lone game between the two teams by a 78-60 margin. The Ichabods went on a 13-0 run midway through the first half to build a 16-point lead, and Lindenwood could never get back into the game. Dominique Dobbs led the Lions with a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Jackson Price also scored 13 points.
 
Lindenwood Notes
• Through games played on Dec. 11, Lindenwood ranked third in NCAA Division II in fewest turnovers per game (8.8), tenth in turnover margin (+5.8), and 12th in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.61).
 
• In the last 10 halves played by the Lions, the team has scored 40 or more points in seven of those periods.
 
• In its seven victories this season, Lindenwood has gone to the free-throw line 97 more times than its opponents, an average of 13.9 a game. In its two losses, the opponents have attempted one more free throw than Lindenwood.
 
• Lindenwood's three-point shooting has improved since the start of MIAA play. In the two games last week, the Lions hit 23 three-pointers, and shot 41.8 percent from three-point range.
 
• The Lions have not turned the ball over more than 11 times in a game this season, and in five of their nine games, they have turned the ball over less than 10 times. Lindenwood has forced 11 or more turnovers in eight of the nine contests.
 
• Chandler Diekvoss ranks in the top five in the MIAA in scoring and rebounding. He is currently one of three MIAA players that rank in the top five in both statistical lists.

• Brad Newman had back-to-back 20-point games for the first time in his career after having 27 against Pittsburg State and 21 versus Missouri Southern. In those two games, he shot 59.1 percent from the field, 50 percent from three-point range, and 78.9 percent from the free-throw line.
 
• Jackson Price is starting to heat up offensively. Over the last three games, he is averaging 11.7 points a game. In that span, Price has made nine three-pointers and is shooting 42.9 percent from three-point range.
 
• Adam Pohlman is averaging 5.7 assists a game over the last three contests, including collecting 10 against Pittsburg State. He became just the third Lion all-time with double-figure assistsp in that Pittsburg State contest. In the last three games, he has a 8.5 assist-to-turnover ratio.
 
• Dominique Dobbs averaged 8.0 points and 6.0 rebounds a game in the two MIAA games last week, and he shot 50 percent from the field.
 
• Max Meylor earned his first two starts of the season in the two games last week, and averaged 8.5 points and shot 66.7 percent from the field.
 
• Lindenwood has its final MIAA game before Christmas on Monday evening with a 7:30 p.m. contest against Emporia State.
 
A Look At The Ichabods
• Washburn is one of two MIAA teams without a conference loss this season after it picked up wins over Fort Hays State and Nebraska-Kearney.
 
• The Ichabods lead the MIAA, and rank in the top 25 of NCAA Division II, in blocked shots (4.6 bpg), field-goal percentage defense (.391), and rebounding margin (+8.2).
 
• Brady Skeens has won two straight MIAA Defensive Player of the Year awards. This season, he is 17th nationally with 2.4 blocks a game, and is 21st with 10.3 rebounds a game.
 
• Four players average double-figure points, led by Javion Blake with 15.1 points a contest. Skeens is averaging 12.4 points, and shooting 72.2 percent from the field. Tyas Martin and Isaac Clark also average over 10 points a game.
