Men's Basketball Prepares for Central Missouri on Saturday

Things to Know
• The Lindenwood men's basketball team will conclude its brief two-game road trip on Saturday afternoon in Warrensburg, Mo. The Lions will face the Central Missouri Mules at 2:00 p.m. from the Multipurpose Building.

• Lindenwood will arrive in Warrensburg, Mo. on a three-game losing skid. The Lions have dropped each of their previous three contests by exactly nine points. 

• Lindenwood is just 1-7 in games decided by 10 points or less this season, but 8-2 in all other contests.

• In their most recent game on Thursday evening at Southwest Baptist, the Lions had an opportunity to tie the game on their final possession with two seconds remaining, but were unable to get the game-tying bucket to fall.

• Lindenwood and Central Missouri have met 14 times dating back to the 1979-80 season. The Mules own a 9-5 edge in the all-time series, but Lindenwood has won the last three meetings, including two in Warrensburg, Mo.

• The Lions and Mules will meet once more on Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m. from Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo. to conclude their season series.

Lindenwood Notes
• Brad Newman led Lindenwood in points at Southwest Baptist on Jan. 17. Newman finished the evening with 21 points (7-of-15 FG), his eighth game this season with at least 20 points.

• Newman is Lindenwood's leading scorer through 18 games this season, averaging 18.6 points per game. Newman ranks eighth in the MIAA in scoring average.

• Newman added four assists and three steals in the game at Southwest Baptist, both of which were team-leading totals.

• On Jan. 17 at Southwest Baptist, Chris King recorded his first double-digit scoring effort since Dec. 15 at No. 2 Northwest Missouri. King finished his most recent game with 16 points, including four made three-point field goals.

• King has made 30 three-point field goals this season, the second-highest total on the squad. Brad Newman leads Lindenwood with 31 makes from three-point range.

• Among shooters with at least 40 three-point field goal attempts this season, Adam Pohlman leads Lindenwood in shooting percentage from behind the arc. Pohlman is connecting on 42.9 percent of his attempts from long-range.

• Pohlman tied for the team-lead in assists (4) and rebounds (5) on Jan. 17 at Southwest Baptist. Pohlman has led Lindenwood in assists 14 times this season, and is averaging 4.9 assists per game. Pohlman is tied for fifth in the MIAA in assists per game.

• Pohlman is ranked fourth in NCAA Division II and first in the MIAA with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.92. Pohlman has had one or fewer turnovers in 12 of his 18 games this season.

• TJ Crockett provided a huge lift off of the bench for Lindenwood during its game at Southwest Baptist. Shortly after entering the game in the second half, Crockett knocked down three shots from three-point territory during a series of four possesions, cutting an 11-point deficit to just two points in a span of 2:18.

• Dominique Dobbs tied with Pohlman for the team-lead in rebounds with five. It was the fifth time this season, and third time in the last five games, that Dobbs has finished a game with at least five rebounds.

• Lindenwood lost the rebounding battle for the sixth time this season, and for the third consecutive game. The Lions are 0-6 when collecting fewer rebounds than their opponents this season, as opposed to 8-2 when having a higher number of rebounds.

• Lindenwood was a perfect 11-of-11 from the charity stripe at Southwest Baptist. It was the Lions second game this season in which they were perfect from the free-throw line.

• Lindenwood allowed Southwest Baptist to shoot 30 free throws in the game, which was 19 more than it attempted. The Lions are just 3-8 this season when their opponent gets to the free-throw line more times than they do in a game.

Scouting the Competition
• Central Missouri enters Saturday's matchup with a record of 10-6, including a 3-4 mark from within the MIAA.

• The Mules are currently tied for 7th place in the conference standings, and are just 0.5 games ahead of Lindenwood.

• Central Missouri was picked 4th in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll, after finishing the 2017-18 season with a 20-10 record.

• The Mules were victorious in their most recent game on Wednesday evening. Central Missouri posted a 16-point victory on its home court over one of the hottest teams in the MIAA, Lincoln. 

• The Mules defeated Lincoln by a final score of 71-55, and had four scorers have at least 13 points in the game. Central Missouri dominated down low, outscoring Lincoln 38-18 in the paint.

• Jafar Kinsey is leading the Mules in scoring this season, averaging 13.4 points per game. Not far behind Kinsey is the duo of Jakob Lowrance and Blake Spellman. Lowrance is averaging 12.2 points per game, while Spellman is scoring 11.1 points per game.
