Lindenwood is set to open the 2020-21 season on Friday against Missouri S&T inside Hyland Arena. The Lions start their second season under head coach
Kyle Gerdeman, looking to improve from a 12-16 record last year.
Senior guard
TJ Crockett returns to the hardwood after earning second-team all-GLVC honors, as he led the team with 21.3 points per game in 2019-20. Crockett added 73 assists and 36 steals in his junior campaign, and led the Lions in scoring in 16 of his 28 games played.
Vijay Blackmon was not far behind Crockett on the stat sheet, as he averaged 16.6 points per contest. Blackmon accumulated 72 assists with 34 steals, and knocked down 66 three pointers, which was second-best on the team.
Cameron Scales was a threat on the perimeter last season by hitting a team-high 73 three pointers. Scales did the dirty work as well, leading the Lions with 54 offensive rebounds and averaged 5.2 total rebounds per game.
Anthony Christian averaged 9.2 points per game, and utilized his strength to a 59.1 field goal percentage. Christian led the Lions in scoring in three home victories throughout the year, as he scored at least 20 points in each of those games.
The Lions opened the 2019-20 season with a 3-0 record, including a victory in the home-opener. Lindenwood will begin the season at home for the first time since the 2012-13 season. The Lions have won 13-straight home openers, and five-straight season-opening games.
Lindenwood was picked to finish third in the Central Division in the 2020-21 GLVC Preseason Coaches Poll. The Miners were placed fifth in the West Division, as they were 6-20 last season. The Lions will play three home games and three road games before the end of the 2020 calendar year, with just one game outside the state of Missouri. Lindenwood is set to play a 22-game conference-only schedule this season, which will conclude on February 27 at UIndy. The GLVC Tournament is slated for March 4-7 with the site to be determined.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Lindenwood will begin the season without fans in attendance. All games will be streamed live on the GLVCSN (https://glvcsn.com/lindenwood/).
