The Lindenwood men's basketball team will open the 2021-22 season this weekend, as the Lions host Parkside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, and Kentucky Wesleyan at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both games will be played inside Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo. as part of the Lindenwood Tipoff Classic.
Lindenwood returns four of its top six scorers from a year ago. Leading the pack is
Romelo Burrell who averaged 12.3 points per game with 6.6 rebounds per contest.
Brandon Trimble was not far behind in points per game, as he averaged 12.0 points while shooting 44.3 percent from three-point range.
Anthony Christian averaged 10.8 point and 5.7 rebounds in his 10 games, while
Kevin Caldwell Jr. scored 7.9 points per game with 40 assists on the season. Lindenwood brought in four transfers, including
Jacoby Ross who competed at Alabama State, and was named SWAC Freshman of the Year in 2018.
The Lions and Rangers met in the 2019 season in the first game of the season, as Lindenwood won by a final of 75-74. In that game, Christian dropped 11 points, grabbed five boards, and registered three steals. As a member of the Rangers that year, Trimble compiled 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field, and added four assists.
The Lions have won six-straight season openers, while they have notched 14-straight home openers in Hyland Arena.
