Ethan Paulin-Hatch earned his first collegiate career shutout as men's ice hockey defeated Maryville 3-0 Friday night at the Maryville Hockey Center in Chesterfield, Missouri.
The Lions jumped in front early in the first when
Andy Willis sounded the horn just 73-seconds into the contest on a play set up by
Zach Aughe and
Blake Finley. Despite the early advantage by Lindenwood, the Saints stayed within striking distance well into the final period as neither team found the back of the net until Aughe made it 2-0 at the 12:45 mark of the third, assisted by Finley and Willis. The Lions sealed the victory with 4:40 remaining in regulation when
Caleb Price buried the puck off a nice feed from
Jackson Wozniak.
Lindenwood outshot Maryville 39 to 20 and Paulin-Hatch stopped all 20 of the shots he faced to earn the shutout win.
The Lions wrapped up the regular season schedule with an overall record of 16-3-0 and a mark of 8-0-0 in the Central States Collegiate Hockey League (CSCHL). The CSCHL Tournament runs February 25-27 at the Iowa State Arena in Ames, Iowa, with Lindenwood earning the top seed.
