Men’s Ice Hockey Advances to Quarterfinals at National Championship

The top seeded Lions advanced to the quarterfinals of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Men's Division I Collegiate National Championship with a 3-0 win over No. 17 seed Michigan – Dearborn Friday night at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.

After a scoreless first period, Caige Sterzer sounded the horn at the 7:19 mark of the second with help from Zach Aughe and Aiden Yakimchuk. Sterzer struck again just over two minutes later on a play set up by Andy Willis and Kyler Newman.  The final offensive blow came with 1:58 remaining in the period off the blade of Kyle Jeffers, assisted by David Gagnon and Ryan Finnegan

Trent Burnham stopped all 18 shots he faced to earn the shutout victory as Lindenwood outshot Michigan – Dearboard 32-18.

The Lions await the outcome of the Stony Brook versus Jamestown match-up which will be played on Saturday. Lindenwood will play the winner at 8 p.m. Sunday night at the Centene Community Ice Center.
