Roller Hockey Black Squad Finishes Second at TOHRS Winter Classic

The roller hockey Black squad advanced to the championship game in the A Division at the TOHRS Winter Classic, but came up short in an 8-0 loss to Country Puck Orange, settling for second place January 15 at Vetta 70 in St. Peters, Missouri.

Lindenwood advanced to the knockout stage of the tournament on Sunday as the No. 7 seed after dropping two games on Saturday, 8-4 against the Whalers and 7-2 against Tour Country Puck Orange, but the Lions found their stride from there. Taking on the Whalers once again, the No. 2 seed, roller hockey Black kept the game close with a 2-2 tie after regulation. The Lions then completed the upset with an overtime goal and advanced to the semifinals against the top seeded Gremlins. Lindenwood pulled off another upset with a 2-1 victory, but ran out of steam in the finals.

Roller hockey Black returns to collegiate competition in the Midwest Collegiate Roller Hockey League January 28. Four games are scheduled that Saturday at Midwest Sport Hockey in Ballwin, Missouri.
