The Lindenwood men's basketball team (7-15, 2-7 OVC) will head to Nashville, Tenn. on Saturday to take on Tennessee State (11-11, 3-6 OVC) for a 2:00 p.m. tipoff.
The Lions and Tigers met earlier this season, as Tennessee State had the upper hand in a 60-57 win inside Hyland Arena. The Lions held a 14-point lead at the half, and collected 36:35 of game clock with the advantage. However, Tennessee State took a late lead to secure its road victory.
Kevin Caldwell Jr. and
Chris Childs led the team with 15 points, while
Keenon Cole posted 13 points. Cole pulled down seven boards and compiled three blocks.
David Ware grabbed 12 rebounds to lead all players in the game, but the Tigers collected 16 offensive rebounds which aided in the win over Lindenwood.
The Lions are looking to bounce back from a 66-59 loss to UT Martin on Thursday. Cole led all scorers with 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting, including 3-of-5 from behind the arc.
Tommie Williams ended his night with 11 points and two blocks in his 25 minutes of action. Both teams were even on points off turnovers (14) and points in the paint (30), but the Skyhawks outscored the Lions 15-3 on the fast break.
The Tigers are led by Jr. Clay who is posting 19.3 points per contest, and has dished out 101 assists through 20 games. Clay put up 22 points in the previous meeting with the Lions on January 7 in St. Charles, Mo.
Lindenwood will start the month of February with a three-game home stand.
