Roller Hockey Gold Squad Sweeps Four Games in MCRHL

The roller hockey Gold squad swept all four game played in Midwest Collegiate Roller Hockey League (MCRHL) action February 4-5 at the Salt Creek Sports Center in Palatine, Illinois. The Lions edged Bethel University (Tenn.) D1 in a shootout 5-4 and stopped the Michigan State AA squad 10-1 on Saturday, then shutout Ohio State AA 13-0 and outlasted Henry Ford Community College (JC) 7-4 on Sunday.

In the opening contest against the Wildcats, Lindenwood fell behind by three goals in the opening period before charging back in the second and third to tie the game at 3-3. The two teams traded goals in the later stages of the final period with the Lions forcing overtime with just three seconds remaining in regulation. Bryce Pierce ultimately netted the game winner in the shootout.

Jackson Wosniak earned Star No. 1 honors with a hat trick, Andrew DeCiantis was named Star No. 2 with a goal and assist, and Pierce received Star No. 3 recognition for his shootout goal. Cameron Green and Dillon Dale had an assist each to help the Lindenwood cause. In a close battle, Bethel outshot the Lions 26-25 with Chase Christopher stopping 22 of the 26 shots he faced to earn the victory in goal.

Lindenwood scored the first nine goals unanswered against the Spartans and didn't yield their lone goal until early in the third. Wosniak once again earned Star No. 1 recognition, this time with a goal and three assists. Matt Acosta was named Star No. 2 with two goals and an assist, and Green received Star No. 3 honors with two goals and an assist. Dale added two goals and an assist, with single tallies coming from Pierce, Andrew Zack, and Landon Kooker. Cameron Rodriguez and DeCiantis contributed to the offense with an assist each.  

Clayton Davis earned the win in goal with six saves on seven shots as the Lions outshot Michigan State AA 16-7.

Lindenwood only allowed four total shots on goal in the victory over the Buckeyes Sunday morning. The Lions scored six goals in the first, four in the second, and three in the third. Dale was named Star No. 1 with five goals and two assists, Kooker earned Star No. 2 recognition with a hat trick and assist, and Pierce received Star No. 3 honors with two goals and an assist. Single goals came from Rodriguez, Kade Uetz, and Zack with Nicholaus Meyer getting on the stat sheet with three assists.

Christopher picked up the victory in goal with four saves on as many shots as Lindenwood put 27 shots on goal in the game.

After giving up the first goal of the game to Henry Ford Community College, the Lions scored the next five, two coming on the power play, to take a 5-1 lead. The Hawks came back in the second to make it 6-4 Lindenwood, but that was as close as they would get the rest of the game.

Pierce earned Star No. 1 honors with two goals and two assists and Dale received Star No. 2 recognition with a hat trick. The other two Lindenwood markers came from Wozniak and Kooker.

The Lions outshot Henry Ford 33-22 and Davis stopped 18 of the 22 pucks he faced in goal for Lindenwood.
With the four victories, roller hockey Gold improved to 11-1 in the MCRHL and to 15-1 overall.
