The roller hockey Gold squad won three games in Midwest Collegiate Roller Hockey League (MCRHL) action February 7-8 at Midwest Sport Hockey in Ballwin, Missouri. The Lions topped Maryville University D3 8-2 and St. Louis Community College 14-2 on Saturday, then defeated Purdue University D3 11-2 on Sunday.
In the opening game, the Saints stayed close, only trailing 2-1 through the first period until Lindenwood scored five unanswered in the second to pull away.
Matthew Sherman earned Star No. 1 honors with a goal and two assists,
Nicolas Kruk received Star No. 2 recognition with a goal and assist, and Logan Daffron was named Star No. 3 with two assists.
Branden Bedley stopped all but two shots to get the win in goal.
In the game against the Archers, the Lions built a 3-2 advantage after the first period, led by four after the second, and added eight unanswered in the third for the 12-goal victory. Three Lindenwood players scored a hat trick with one scoring four to lead the Lions.
Shaun Sapienza earned Star No. 1 honors with three goals and four assists,
Connor White received Star No. 2 recognition with four goals and an assist, and
Drew Royer was named Star No. 3 with two goals and three assists. James Mueller scored three goals and added an assist to help the Lindenwood cause. Bedley earned his second win of the day in goal.
In the final game of the weekend for the Gold squad on Sunday, the Lions gave up the first goal of the game to the Boilermakers and then scored five to build a 5-1 lead into the first intermission. Lindenwood added two more in the second and four in the third while yielding just a single tally to Purdue.

Connor Hof stopped 10 of the 12 shots he faced to earn the victory in goal for the Lions.
With the three wins, roller hockey Gold improved to 11-0 overall and to 9-0 in the MCRHL. The Lions will travel to Columbus, Ohio for another conference weekend February 14-15. Lindenwood is scheduled to play Purdue D3 and Illinois State D2 on Saturday and Slippery Rock D1 on Sunday at Heatwave Arena.
