The Lindenwood men's basketball team will close out the regular season on Saturday as the Lions host Little Rock for a 3:30 p.m. tipoff from Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo. The winner of the Saturday's contest will advance to the OVC Championship starting on March 1 in Evansville, Ind.
The Lions are coming off of a wild 105-102 double-overtime thriller over SEMO on Thursday in Hyland Arena. Lindenwood was down by as many as 20 points in the second half, before clawing back to keep its conference tournament hopes alive. After a huge offensive rebound,
Remy Lemovou scored his first points of the game to make it a 103-102 lead for the Lions with 14 seconds on the clock. Lindenwood forced the Redhawks into a tough shot, which Childs grabbed the rebound, and hit his free throws to close out the miraculous comeback at home.
Chris Childs led the Lions with 25 points on 6-of-12 shooting, as he made 11-of-12 from the charity stripe.
Kevin Caldwell Jr. collected 18 strong points, and tallied five steals on the defensive end of the court. Lindenwood held off the Redhawks who had three players scoring 20 points or more. The Lions forced SEMO into 20 turnovers with the help of 17 steals. Lindenwood collected its eighth victory at home this year, the first time since the 2019-20 season.
The last time the Lions and Trojans met was on January 4. Lindenwood was down by 20 points in the opening half, but battled back to earn a 67-62 comeback win on the road.
Keenon Cole was outstanding in the Lindenwood victory, shooting 8-of-10 from the floor with a perfect 5-of-5 night from three-point range. Childs dropped a team-high 23 points, as he was 50 percent from the floor and made all eight of his free-throw attempts.
The final spot in the OVC Championship is on the line on Saturday, as the winner will take on the No. 5 seed at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1 in Evansville, Ind.
