Volleyball Announces Two Additions In 2024

Amelia Thro and Meghan Donoughe will join the program this spring

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - Lindenwood women's volleyball has announced two additions to their spring 2024 roster as they welcome Amelia Thro and Meghan Donoughe. Both join a Lindenwood program returning the majority of their third place Ohio Valley Conference roster.

"This spring, we are really diving deep into our mechanics and fundamentals," said returning team-captain Allie Otten. "Our goal for this season is to raise our standards, whether it's getting an extra rep after practice, communicating more efficiently in the gym or feeling our bodies through each motion."

Amelia Thro, setter, is a transfer from Shorter University but is originally a home-grown talent right here in St. Charles, Mo. Thro was second on her team last season in assists with 340 averaging 4.30 assists per set. She also added 16 service aces from behind the line. She was voted as the Most Improved Player on her team last season.

Originally from Orchard Farm High School, Thro was a three time GAC All-Conference second team selection. During her senior season, Thro made the 2020 Class 3 first team-all district team. She also was a GAC North All-Academic selection for three straight seasons.

Meghan Donoughe, setter, comes in as a freshman hailing from Friendswood, Texas where she attended Friendswood High School. An accomplished player, Donoughe was named to the 2022 First-Team all-district team and also was a two time Academic All-District selection.

In the fall, she was named a GHVCA Pre-season watch list selection and was named to the 2022 vballrecruiter volleypalooze under the radar player to watch. Earlier this year, Donoughe was announced as one of five incoming players for Lindenwood next season.

"Adding Amelia and Meghan to the team this semester has been awesome," said Otten. "They are both easy-going, driven and hardworking. Adding two fierce players to the gym has been so fun and has made the competition in practice even more competitive. We are excited for everyone to see what we have in store for next year."

Lindenwood finished their second Division I season with a 16-15 overall record which included an 11-7 OVC record. They finished third in the conference and made a OVC Championships semi-final appearance for the second year in a row. Nyah Wilson and Jessie Seidel both were named to the All-OVC second team.
