Men's Soccer Appoints Nat Hubert As Assistant Coach

Hubert spent the last two season at Catawba College

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - Head coach Kris Bertsch announced the hiring of new assistant coach Nat Hubert for the upcoming 2024 season. Hubert has spent the last two season at Catawba College.

"I am really excited to add Nat to our coaching staff," said Bertsch. "He has a tremendous upside in coaching and has valuable recruiting and coaching experience. I truly appreciate how much he cares about those around him and his desire to form strong relationships with others."

Hubert comes to Lindenwood after spending the last two years at Catawba College as the top assistant coach where he helped guide the program to two of the most successful seasons in the recent history. In his first season, Hubert helped guide Catawba to the highest National Ranking in 16 years, only to go one better in his second year.

In 2022, Hubert recruited All-Conference, All-Region and All-Freshman team players, starting seven freshman in the process to a 9-6-2 record, and helped further their development in his second year, leading to three All-Region Players and four All-Conference Players, both the highest amount of nominations and awards Catawba College have ever been given in the South Atlantic Conference.

Overall, the 18-12-4 record that Hubert was a part of during his time at Catawba College was a significant step from the years prior to his arrival, with the winning percentage climbing from .529 in his two years compared to .379 in the 10 years prior.

"Nat is driven, hard-working, organized, wants to learn, and embodies our core values and soccer pillars. The best coaches I've worked with are motivated like Nat and never settle on what they already know and self-reflect to get better. I believe Nat is going to quickly transition in our environment and help take our program to the next level. We welcome Nat to our incredible environment!" said Bertch.

On top of this, Hubert was the Head Coach of the Raleigh Rebels in the $1,000,000 TST Tournament in Cary, NC in the Summer of 2023 where the local team beat Charlotte FC, NCFC and Duke Sevens to eventually lose in the Sweet 16. He will be back this Summer representing the Raleigh Rebels in 2024 as well. Furthermore, Hubert was also the Head Coach for C.D. Victoria for their $100,000 Copa Mariachi Win in 2023 on his first attempt, with the team not getting out of the group stage in any of the previous years.

Hubert spent three years as the Director of college recruitment / head coach at Tennessee United Soccer Club, where he won two State Championships and a National Championship. The National Championship was particularly impressive, as the team went 22-0 in the National League in the process, winning the first Boys National Championship for the state of Tennessee in their history and beating the #1 and #2 ranked teams in the country on the way to victory in Denver in 2022.

Hubert started Coaching after a four-year career at Belmont University, where he was a starter from 2013-2017, picking up All-Freshman accolades in 2013, and joint top goal-scorer awards in 2014 despite playing as a defender and ended his career with 67 games played. After his collegiate career at Belmont University, where he graduated with his Bachelors in Social Work, Hubert also won a National Championship as a player at the University of Nottingham in 2018, where he assisted both goals in the National Championship whilst graduating with honors in his Master's Degree in Management.

Before his move to the United States in 2013, Hubert was born in England and came through the Academy Systems of Southampton, Portsmouth, Bristol City and Birmingham. Hubert made his First Team debut in 2012 at the age of 17 against Premier League team Brighton & Hove Albion for Worthing FC, and made 46 appearances in his first season, winning Young Player of the Year, Young Defender of the Year and become the Youngest Player ever to represent his county, Sussex whilst appearing in the FA Cup and captaining the Youth Team on a run in the FA Youth Cup.

"I think it's the combination of everything altogether. The program itself is ready to win, and I want to be a part of that," said Hubert on his decision to come to Lindenwood. "The administration is supportive, the team is ready and the facilities are fantastic. I wouldn't have taken this job if I didn't believe I could win here. I'm also ready to be mentored by Coach Bertsch and be surrounded with like-minded winners. On top of this, I love the idea of being in St Charles, minutes away from a huge soccer hotbed that is Saint Louis and continue to grow my network of people in this world and meet new people and enjoy life in the Midwest. At the end of the day, transitioning to Division 1 was always the goal, and I cannot wait to get started and bring success to Lindenwood University."

Hubert will reside in St Charles with his dog, Thierry.
