The roller hockey Gold squad captured the AA Division Championship at the TORHS Winter Classic on Sunday with a 3-1 win over Missouri Wild Alchemy in the title game at Vetta 70 in St. Peters, Missouri.
The Lions earned four straight victories in preliminary play, beginning with a 3-2 decision over Tour Country Puck Friday evening. Lindenwood followed with another 3-2 over the team that would be seen again in the finals. The Lions stopped the Gremlins 4-3 on Saturday morning and then finished with a decisive 8-1 win over the Whalers in the afternoon to advance.
Roller hockey Gold returns to action with four games at the Midwest Collegiate Roller Hockey League (MCRHL) Showcase January 18-19. The Lions are scheduled to face Michigan State University (AA) in a conference match-up starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, followed by a non-conference game against Farmingdale State College (AA) at 1 p.m. Ohio State (AA), another conference opponent, awaits Lindenwood at 9 a.m. Sunday morning with the weekend wrapping up against Slippery Rock (AA) at 12 p.m. All games at the MCRHL Showcase will take place at Heatwave Arena in Plain City, Ohio.
