Both the men's and women's bowling teams won the tournament title at the Cedar Valley Invitational in Waterloo, Iowa. The Lions competed on January 31 while the Lady Lions did so on February 1.

In a three-team game, three baker set format that included head-to-head competition, the men's team opened with a 5-0 record on Saturday. After starting with a 1060 to 807 victory over Luther College in game one, the Lions edged Spoon River College 1049 to 1016 in game two. They followed with their best team game of the day, defeating Kansas State 1102 to 823. Lindenwood completed team competition with a total score of 3212.
In the first of three, four-game baker set matches, the Lions fell behind Waldorf after game one but rallied for an 854-762 win. Recently developing rival Quincy University awaited Lindenwood for set two, and it was close as expected. After falling behind by a pin after game one, the Lions trailed by 12 after game two, but a huge 258 game followed and that turned the tide in what ultimately was an 839-798 victory. With the 5-0 mark, it set up a showdown with the only other 5-0 team, Mount Mercy, for the tournament title.
The Mustangs jumped out to a big lead after taking game one 237-182, but Lindenwood followed with a 280 game, however Mount Mercy shot 237 and still maintained a 12-pin advantage. The Lions finally took the lead after a 213-190 win in game three, but only by a single pin, meaning that the match and tournament came down to the final game of the set. It didn't look good initially as Lindenwood opened with two splits in the first three frames, but it was all strikes from there, nine in a row, for a 247 game. The Mustangs countered with 222, but the Lions prevailed 922-886 to finish with a perfect 6-0 record.
Lindenwood posted the high baker total of 2615 (217.92 average) and had a grand total of 5827. That was 94 pins behind Mount Mercy for the top overall score.
In the women's tournament on Sunday, the Lady Lions started with two close matches. In their opener against Clarke, it came down to the 10
th frame with Lindenwood

prevailing 948-904. The Lady Lions faced Coe College in game two and after being virtually tied after the sixth frame, it came down to the 10
th frame once again. Lindenwood had a small lead, and managed to maintain it for an 896-874 victory. The Lady Lions cruised to a game three win with their best team game of the day, 1008-813, totaling 2852.
Lindenwood really hit stride in baker. With four games in the 200's, including a 242, the Lady Lions defeated Wartburg by almost 200 pins, 870-672. Another big set of 865, including a game of 247, gave Lindenwood an 865-750 win in the second set for a 5-0 record.
That set up a showdown with Peru State College, the only other 5-0 team, however with Mount Mercy totaling more pins, a loss to the Bobcats would likely mean a drop to third place. The Lady Lions started strongly, and it looked like it would be a big win, however Peru State rallied late and only trailed by 10 pins after game one. The Bobcats continued their momentum into game two and took it 203-181 to build a 12-pin advantage. Lindenwood continued at a steady pace and retook the lead after a game three 207-175 win. After an open and mark in the first two frames of game four, the Lady Lions strung five strikes in a row to pull away for a 222-169 victory and an 806-733 match win to claim the tournament title. Lindenwood posted 2541 (211.75 average) for the high baker total in the field and had a grand total of 5393 to finish 169 pins behind Mount Mercy in total pins.
In other action, the Lions Junior division 1 team earned a 5-0 record through the first five matches to face the only other 5-0 team, Mount Mercy in a winner-take-all baker set. After falling behind the Mustangs by 52 pins, Lindenwood rallied with a 247-171 win to take a 24-pin lead. Mount

Mercy answered back with a 226-203 victory, but the Lions still held a one pin lead with a game to go. The two teams stayed within a few pins of each other through the first eight frames with Lindenwood holding a four-pin advantage but opens in the ninth and 10
th frames dashed the Lions hopes and they fell 834-806.
