Men's rugby welcomed 35 local high school athletes to the Lindenwood University campus for its Jump Start Clinic on Saturday morning. The clinic is an opportunity designed to help players knock the rust off ahead of the upcoming high school season while getting a taste of a high-performance rugby environment.
The clinic was led by current Lindenwood student athletes, who coached small groups in their individual areas of specialty under the close supervision of the Lindenwood coaching staff. Those areas included skills, contact, decision-making, and movement and the format allowed younger players to receive hands-on instruction while also seeing what daily training looks like at the collegiate level.
Assistant Coach
Wayden Mosinkie highlighted the value of the session for both the high school players and the Lindenwood athletes leading them.
"It was great to see high school players out here," Mosinkie stated. "It was good to showcase what a high-performance environment is like on a day-to-day basis and to see our athletes involved in helping these players develop, even if it means learning and reviewing the simple things."
The Jump Start Clinic reflects the commitment of Lindenwood rugby to grow the game locally, support player development at every level, and create meaningful learning opportunities for both aspiring athletes and current Lindenwood Lions.
