Jack McAllister Named Captain of Lindenwood Rugby for 2026-27

Senior scrumhalf Jack McAllister has been named captain of the men's rugby program for the 2026-27 season.

McAllister succeeds David Scanlon, the Irish lock who captained the Lions during the 2025-26 campaign. A native of Sydney, Australia, McAllister attended Barker College before joining Lindenwood and has since developed into one of the premier scrum halves in collegiate rugby. A Rudy Scholz Award nominee and respected voice within the program, he now assumes one of the most important leadership positions within the men's rugby program.

For McAllister, the appointment is both an honor and a responsibility.

"I'm incredibly honored and privileged to be named captain of this program," he said. "It has such a rich history, and I'm committed to carrying that forward both on and off the field."

Head Coach Josh Macy believes McAllister's leadership has been years in the making.

"Jack embodies so much of what we want Lindenwood Rugby to represent," Macy stated. "He's fiercely competitive, but he's equally committed to serving the people around him. He has earned the trust and respect of his teammates through years of consistency, professionalism, and selflessness. Most importantly, he understands that the captaincy isn't about authority, it's about stewardship. He appreciates the responsibility that comes with preserving the standards and culture built by the men who came before him."

McAllister sees those standards as the foundation for the program's continued success.

"For me, preserving the culture, standards, and brotherhood that make Lindenwood Rugby special is just as important as winning games," said McAllister. "My goal is to help create an environment where every player is accountable, works relentlessly for the man beside him, and leaves the program better than they found it. I'm excited for the challenge and grateful for the opportunity to lead this group."

McAllister becomes the latest in a distinguished line of Macy's Lindenwood captains that include Jack Huckstepp, Wesley White, Marnus Spangenberg, Neal Moylett, Duncan Krige, and David Scanlon. That lineage reflects more than leadership on match day. It represents a commitment to protecting and advancing the culture that has helped establish Lindenwood as one of the premier programs in collegiate rugby.

As the Lions turn their attention toward the 2026-27 season, McAllister will lead a veteran group determined to build upon the program's proud tradition while creating a legacy of its own.
