College Magazine recently named Lindenwood as one of the top 10 collegiate archery programs in the country at No. 6.
Despite the program being started just two years ago in 2021, Lindenwood was noted for supporting all four divisions of equipment, having an indoor range just a half-mile from campus, access to target, 3D, and outdoor practice ranges, access to strength and conditioning facilities, and a strong coaching staff.
In putting the ranking together, teams that could not field archers in all four competition categories including recurve, compound, barebow, and fixed pin, were not considered for the list. Whether a program sent archers to the three major college tournaments (USA Archery Indoor Nationals, USA Archery Collegiate Target Nationals, and USA Archery Collegiate 3D Nationals) was also a major consideration. Other factors included whether a program offered both indoor and outdoor practice facilities, scholarship offerings, available strength and conditioning opportunities, whether the program was deemed varsity or club, and the highest level of the coach associated with the program. Bonus points were given to programs with 3D fields and any ties were broken based on a higher number of Scholar Athletes in 2023.
The Lions finished second in team competition at the National Field Archery Association Vegas Shoot in February and took sixth at the 2022 USA Archery 3D National Tournament earlier in the season.
