It was a tough afternoon for the women's ACHA division I ice hockey team as they fell on Sunday to the Maryville Saints by a score of 6-0 at Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri. Defense and penalties were a thorn in the Lions side once again as they allowed 50 shots on goal and 3 power play goals.  

Jordan Tung got the nod in net for the Lions and was able to keep the game scoreless for most of the first period. Saints forward, Syndey Poisson, broke the deadlock at 14:46 and then added another goal at 19:48. The Lions were outshot 18-7 in the first period and trailed 2-0 when the horn sounded.

The Lions were able to keep pace with the Saints through the first half of the second period, but miscues led to the third Maryville goal at 10:43. Now down 3-0, things went from bad to worse for the Lions. A Madison Teague high sticking minor sent the Saints to the man-advantage. Maryville capitalized 51 seconds later and took a 4-0 lead into the final period of play.

Consistent with the previous two periods, the Lions started the third period strong until costly penalties and the ensuing offensive barrage by the Saints finally wore them down. Maryville took a 5-0 lead at 15:02, then added the nail in the coffin at 16:24 while on the power play. The final tally was 6-0 in favor of the Saints when the final horn sounded. Lindenwood starting goaltender, Jordan Tung, played well and was able to keep the Lions in the game for most of the contest. She stopped 44 of 50 Saints shots but was unfortunately tabbed with a loss.

With the loss, the Lions fell two games below .500 with a record of 8-10-1 on the season and 5-7-1 in conference play. The Lions next game is a rematch with the Saints on Friday, December 6^th at Maryville Ice Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
