Women's ACHA ice hockey wrapped up its regular season with a 4-1 loss to McKendree in Women's Midwest College Hockey (WMCH) action Sunday afternoon at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri. As has been the case multiple times this season, the Lions played their opponent evenly in the early stages of the contest but fell behind in the later stages.
McKendree jumped in front just over a minute into the game and held a 1-0 advantage through the first period.
Piper Thomas scored her second of the season for Lindenwood off a pass from
Ava Bilton at the 8:43 mark of the second to tie the score 1-1, but just 21 seconds later, the Bearcats took the lead for good on an unassisted play at 9:04.
It was 2-1 McKendree at the second intermission, and then the Bearcats added two more goals at 9:05 and 18:43 in the third for the final margin.
McKendree doubled the Lions in shots on goal 48-24 and
Erica Didocha stopped 44 of the 48 shots she faced for a .917 save percentage.
Lindenwood completes the regular season with a 0-25-1 record overall and a mark of 0-14 in the WMCH. The Lions are back in action on Thursday for the WMCH Tournament hosted by Midland University at the Sidner Ice Arena in Fremont, Nebraska.
