The 2008-2009 men's ice hockey team won the program's first ACHA National Championship. The Lions posted a record of 36-3-0 in the regular season and won their final 20 regular season games. After finishing third in the conference tournament, the Lions dominated the national championship event. In four games, Lindenwood outscored its opponents by a 28-5 margin. In the championship game, Lindenwood defeated Illinois by a 4-1 margin.
 
Lindenwood finished that men's hockey season with a 42-4-0 overall record. Head coach of the team was Derek Schaub.
