Lindenwood Sports Hall of Fame
Karen Goodman (formerly Gaines) was a multi-sport star for Lindenwood from 1982-85, excelling in softball and basketball and also playing on the volleyball team. She was named Lindenwood’s athlete of the year for both the 1983-84 and 1984-85 school years. In softball, her number was retired after collecting a 28-19 overall record, having nine no-hitters, pitching 309 innings, striking out 528 batters and having a ERA of 0.63. She was also one of the top hitters for the Lady Lions during those years. One of her top seasons came as a freshman when she went 15-3 with five no-hitters, 232 strikeouts and an ERA of 0.24. In basketball, Gaines still ranks among the Top 10 Lindenwood career leaders in scoring average, rebounding average, assists and steals. As a junior, she averaged 14.6 points and shot 46 percent from the field. The next season, she was named team MVP after averaging over 14 points again and pulling down 171 rebounds.
