After opening the weekend with two losses to Benedictine on Saturday, the Lindenwood baseball team was right back on the field on Sunday afternoon. The Lions swept a two game series from visiting Harris-Stowe, 6-4 and 11-3.
In game one the Hornets jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. But that lead would not last long as the Lions would score three runs in the second inning and three more in the third to take a 6-1 lead. Harris-Stowe was able to push across three runs in the sixth to cut the lead to two but that as close as they would get.
Lindenwood was led by
Dylan Lowery who was 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs. Catcher
Anthony Dallosto also pitched in with a pair of hits and a RBI.
Daniel Sandello started and went four innings surrendering five hits and just one run in the win.
The final game of the day started with the Lions scoring runs in the first two innings. But the Hornets came back to take the lead in the top of the third with three runs. With the Lions trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, the offense exploded for five runs to take a 7-3 lead. Lindewood would tack on another four in the bottom of the sixth capped off by
Frank Corpus bases-loaded double that cleared the bases.
With the two wins the Lions improve their record to15-7 and the Hornets drop to 7-5. Up next for the Lions is a home game against Graceland on Tuesday night.
