Lions Drop Final Game of Series to Washburn

Box Score The Lindenwood baseball team closed out its final MIAA road trip of the season with a 10-9 loss to the Washburn Ichabods on Sunday afternoon in Topeka, Kan.

Washburn jumped out to an early lead with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Lions tied the score up in the fourth inning when the team compiled three runs on three hits. The big blow of the inning was a two-out RBI double by Wade Rothermich.
It didn't take long for the Ichabods to regain the lead. Washburn scored two runs in the fourth inning to lead by two. Lindenwood cut the lead in half with a single tally in the sixth but the Ichabods came right back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning.

The seventh inning looked like the offense had given the Lions the lead for good. Lindenwood scored five runs on six hits and was helped out by a Washburn error. But the lead would last only an inning and a half.

The Ichabods regained the lead for good in the eighth when they brought across three runs on three hits.

Rothermich led the way for the Lions at the plate with three hits and three RBIs. Zach Kurzejeski and Kyle Leslie each chipped in with a pair of hits.

Lindenwood dropped its record to 23-23 overall and 21-17 in MIAA play. The Lions will take on Lindenwood-Belleville on Tuesday afternoon in Belleville, Ill.
