Lions Beat Lynx with Prindle's Walk-Off Home Run

Box Score The Lindenwood baseball team defeated Lindenwood-Belleville via walk-off home run by Nathan Prindle to give the Lions an 8-6 victory on Tuesday night at the Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo.

The Lions took the first lead after a three-run second inning.  Marshall Vallandingham drew a walk to start the inning and was followed by back-to-back singles to load the bases for Zac Perkins.  Perkins hit the third consecutive single of the inning to drive in Vallandingham and Prindle.  Zach Kurzejeski laid down a perfect bunt allowing Wilson to score and give Lindenwood a 3-0 lead.  The Lynx responded with three runs in the following inning to tie the game at 3-3 after the third inning.  Lindenwood-Belleville added two more runs in the top of the fourth to take a 5-2 lead over the Lions.

Lindenwood found hope in the bottom of the ninth that started with a Mike Wilson single.  Ryan Light was hit by a pitch and both runners moved into scoring position when Kurzejeski put down a sacrifice bunt for the first out of the inning.  After a strikeout the Lions were down to their last out with Ben Coudret at the plate.  Coudret put the ball in play with the looks of a game ending putout, but the Lynx committed a crucial error allowing both Wilson and light to score and tying the game at 5-5.

The game went into extra innings and it took until the 12th inning for the game to be decided.  Lindenwood-Belleville scored in the top of the inning with a runner on third base and he was able to score due to a Lindenwood fielding error.  The Lynx held a one-run lead forcing the Lions to at least match the run total for the game to continue.  Mike Failoni reached base on his third hit of the game and was pinch ran for by Eddie Sutton.  Vallandingham drew a walk to place runners at first and second to give the Lions hope.  The hope turned into a victory due to the powerful swing by Nathan Prindle that sent the ball over the leftfield wall to give the Lions an 8-6 walk-off win.

Devin Breihan was credited with his first win this year after throwing the final three innings allowing just one hit and struck out three batters.

The Lions improve to 18-31 on the year and will play their final game of the year on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. against Harris Stowe at the Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo.
