Box Score 2 The Lindenwood baseball team lost both games of its doubleheader to Central Missouri on Sunday falling 10-3 in game one and 8-2 in the second game.
The Lions struggled to put runs on the board early in game one and could not prevent the Mules from crossing the plate. Central Missouri scored five runs in the second inning and two runs in the fourth inning to take a 7-0 lead. In the sixth inning the Lions were able to generate some offense starting with a
Ryan Light walk.
Kyle Leslie followed up with a single to put runners at the corners with
Nick Kolley up next.
Kolley hit a double down the left field line to score Light and put the Lions on the board.
Wade Rothermich grounded out to first base allowing Leslie to score and
Nathan Prindle hit a single up the middle allowing Kolley to score. The Lions scored three runs in the inning on four hits and stranded three runners.
Lindenwood could not hold Central Missouri at bay as the Mules added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to go ahead by seven and won 10-3.
Game two headed in the same direction as game one, this time the Mules put up six runs in the second inning on four hits and one error. The Lions were able to score two runs in the bottom of the ninth coming off a bases loaded walk and a pinch-hit single by Kolley that scored
Eddie Sutton.
Lindenwood lost 8-2 in game two as the Mules completed the sweep over the Lions.
Ben Coudret led the Lions with three of the team's four eight hits in the game.
Jerry Roam had six hits on the weekend with three doubles and two RBI.
With the two losses the Lions fall to 14-21 on the year and are now 11-13 in the MIAA. The Lions will host Central Oklahoma for a four-game series starting on Friday at 6 p.m. at the Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo.
