Roller Hockey Sweeps Bethel for GPCIHL Tournament Title

Roller hockey swept a best-of-three series against Bethel to win the Great Plains Collegiate Inline Hockey League (GPCIHL) Tournament Championship March 6 at the All-American Sports Mall in St. Louis, Missouri.

The Lions topped the Wildcats 4-1 in the opener Sunday morning, then backed that up with a 2-1 victory later that afternoon. Lindenwood extended it season long streak to 12 straight wins in the process.

Bids for the 2022 National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association (NCRHA) National Championship were announced earlier this week. The six Division I squads that received them include Arizona State, California State University – Fullerton, Farmingdale State College, Lindenwood University, Michigan State, and Slippery Rock.  Division II teams include Bethel University (Tenn.), Cal Poly, Northeastern, Northern Arizona, Robert Morris University (Pa.), and the University of Massachusetts.

The 2022 Collegiate Roller Hockey Championships are scheduled for April 6-9 at the Wings Event Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Because of pre-season divisional self-selection brought about from temporary rules changes due to the pandemic, the 12 Division I and II teams will be placed together for pool play with results determining the elimination bracket in which a team will compete for a national title. The teams in each pool will be announced in the near future.
