Women's ACHA ice hockey earned its first win of the season in Women's Midwest College Hockey (WMCH) action by stopping Minnesota 2-1 Friday night at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.

Loki Antonio put the Lions in front late in the first with her fourth goal of the season on a play set up by Madison Teague and Ava Bilton at 18:12. A Gophers tripping minor gave Lindenwood a power play late in the second and Teague cashed it in with just seven-seconds remaining in the period. Antonio and Ardyn Hawryshko earned the assists on the goal that increased the margin to 2-0.

Minnesota put incredible pressure on the Lions in the third, outshooting the home team 19-11. That pressure led to a Gophers goal at 6:36 that trimmed the Lindenwood lead to 2-1. The Lions then put themselves in a tough spot midway through the period with back-to-back penalties just 56-seconds apart. That gave the Gophers a brief five-on-three power play at the 10:52 mark, but Erica Didocha repelled everything on the penalty kill and through the rest of regulation to preserve the victory.

Minnesota outshot Lindenwood 37-32, but Didocha stopped 36 of the 37 pucks she faced. The Lions scored once on three power plays while holding the Gophers scoreless on three man-advantage chances.

With the win, Lindenwood improves to 1-4 on the young season. The Lions go for the series sweep against Minnesota Saturday night. The puck drops at 8:40 p.m. at the Centene Community Ice Center.
