For the second game in a row, women's ACHA ice hockey was shutout by Arizona State 2-0 Friday afternoon at the Mountain America Community Iceplex in Tempe, Arizona.
After a scoreless opening period, the Sun Devils were helped in the second by a Lindenwood checking penalty. ASU only needed 48-seconds to cash in the ensuing power play at the 10-minute mark. The Lions found themselves short-handed again on a tripping call later in the period and the Sun Devils scored with the man-advantage at 17:45. Arizona State held a 2-0 lead into the second intermission and a scoreless third period made that the final.
The Sun Devils outshot Lindenwood 54-20 and
Erica Didocha stopped 18 of the 20 shots she faced in goal for a .900 save percentage.
With the loss, the Lions are now 0-21-1 overall. They continue their western road trip with a two-game series against Grand Canyon February 7-8. The puck drops at 7 p.m. MST Saturday night at the Arizona Ice Arcadia in Phoenix, Arizona.
