Roller hockey dominated the first weekend of competition in the Midwest Collegiate Roller Hockey League (MCRHL), earning three victories by a combined score of 62-2 October 26-27 at Midwest Sport Hockey in Ballwin, Missouri.
In the opening game of the weekend Saturday afternoon, the Lions defeated Ohio State D2 33-1 with 10 goals in the first, 13 in the second, and another 10 in the third.
Bryce Pierce scored the first two goals for Lindenwood and tallied a hat trick before the first period was over. He then went on to lead the Lions with eight goals and three assists to earn Star No. 1 honors.
Luke DiPasquale totaled nine points with a hat trick and six assists. He was followed by
Parker Winkelmann who was named Star No. 2 with four goals and three assists. Blake Bennett and
Jack Wedoski each had a hat trick and three assists, and
Landon Kooker earned five points on four goals and an assist. Andrew Deciantis received Star No. 3 recognition with four goals and an assist. Nicholaus Meyer and
Clayton Liefeld each scored twice to help the Lindenwood cause.
The Lions outshot the Buckeyes 91-3 in the contest and
Chase Christopher stopped two of the three shots he faced to earn the win in goal.
Later on Saturday night, Lindenwood shutout Henry Ford Junior College 18-0. DiPasquale was named Star No. 1 with four goals and two assists, Liefeld earned Star No. 2 honors with a hat trick and three assists, and Kooker received Star No. 3 recognition with a hat trick and two assists. Bennett tallied another hat trick, Wedoski scored twice, and Meyer, Winkelmann, and
Brett Worster each scored once as the Lions built a 5-0 lead after the opening period, then added eight more in the second, and give in the third.
In the final contest of the weekend Sunday morning, Lindenwood beat Michigan State University D2 11-1. The Lions scored four goals in each of the first two periods, then added another three in the final 12-minutes. Bennett led Lindenwood with four goals and earned Star No. 1 honors. Liefeld was named Star No. 2 with a goal and two assists, and DiPasquale received Star No. 3 recognition with a goal and two assists. Meyer, Winkelmann, Pierce, Wedoski, and Kooker each contributed one goal to the Lions ledger.
Lindenwood outshot the Spartans 36-8 and Christopher stopped seven of the eight pucks he faced in goal.
With the three victories, the Lions begin their season with a record of 3-0 overall and in the MCRHL. They return to action January 10-12 for the TORHS Winter Classic at Vetta 70 in St. Peters, Missouri.
