Erica Didocha made 59 saves in an 8-0 loss to Liberty University in Women's Midwest College Hockey (WMCH) action Friday night at the LaHaye Ice Center in Lynchburg, Virginia.
The Lions battled early but had trouble slowing the Flames offense. Despite giving up 26 shots in the first period, Lindenwood only gave up one goal in the opening 10 minutes. An interference call on the Lions gave Liberty a power play that was converted at the 10:29 mark to give the home team a 2-0 lead.
The Flames added a single tally in the second before opening the floodgates for five more in the third, all at even strength.
Liberty outshot Lindenwood 67 to 13 and Didocha posted an .881 save percentage with 59 saves on 67 shots. The Flames scored once on two power plays while not taking a single penalty in the contest.
With the loss, the Lions drop to 0-8 overall and 0-5 in the WMCH. Lindenwood will go for a split in the two-game series on Saturday afternoon with the opening faceoff scheduled for 4:30 p.m. EDT at the LaHaye Ice Center.
