Women's ACHA ice hockey was blanked by Maryville 7-0 Sunday night at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri. Despite the number of goals given up, it took until the second before Lindenwood yielded a tally and Lions goaltender
Erica Didocha still had a .914 save percentage in the contest after stopping 75 of the 82 shots she faced with the team being outshot 82-26 overall.
After the scoreless opening period, the Saints struck quickly and often in the second, beginning with an even-strength goal at the 13-second mark. They added another at 3:59 to make it 2-0. After a Lindenwood tripping penalty, Maryville scored on the power play at 7:13 to increase the margin to three.
Back to five-on-five play, the Saints made it 4-0 just 36 seconds after that and sounded the horn again at 10:08. It remained 5-0 for the next eight minutes of game play but a tripping call against the Lions gave Maryville another power play. It was cashed in at 19:00 to make it 6-0 heading into the second intermission. The Saints added one more in the third at 13:32 for the final 7-0 margin.
With the loss, Lindenwood dropped to 0-15-1 on the season. The Lions host three different teams January 22-24. They will face Minot State at 11:30 a.m. Thursday morning, then take on Minnesota on Friday at 2:30 p.m., before facing the University of Jamestown on Saturday at 9:40 p.m. All three games will be played at the Centene Community Ice Center.
