Roller Hockey Black Wins Four at MCRHL Showcase

The roller hockey Black squad won all four games played at the Midwest Collegiate Roller Hockey Showcase event February 14-15 at Heatwave Arena in Columbus, Ohio. The Lions shut out Ohio State AA 9-0, defeated Michigan Tech D3 9-1, and stopped Purdue University AA 11-1 on Saturday, then topped Michigan State AA 10-1 on Sunday.

In the opener against the Buckeyes, Lindenwood scored four in the opening period, then followed with two in the second, and three in the third. The Lions out shot Ohio State 53-19 and Ben Teismann earned the shutout victory with 19 saves on 19 shots. Nolan Lawrenz earned Star No. 1 honors with four goals, Ryan Everding received Star No. 2 recognition with two goals and two assists, and Jack Horrocks was named Star No. 3 with two goals. Brayden Uglow also scored for Lindenwood in the contest.

The Lions started quickly against Michigan Tech, scoring four in the first again. They followed the same pattern with two in the second and three in the third. The lone Huskies goal came at 3:40 of the final frame. Lindenwood out shot Michigan Tech 48-23 with Braysen Reagan stopping 22 of 23 for the Lions in goal. Brayden Uglow earned Star No. 1 honors with four goals, Nolan Lawrenz received Star No. 2 recognition with a pair of goals and an assist, and Raegan was named Star No. 3 with his 22 saves and .957 save percentage. Ryan Everding, Bode Neely, and Carter Banks also scored for Lindenwood.

The Lions scored five in game three on Saturday before the Boilermakers notched their lone goal at 8:11 of the first. Lindenwood added four in the second and two in the third for the final margin. The Lions out shot Purdue 48-19 and Braysen Raegan stopped 18 of 19 in goal for the victory. Ryan Everding earned Star No. 1 honors with two goals and four assists, Nolan Lawrenz was named Star No. 2 with two goals and three assists, and Brayden Uglow received Star No. 3 recognition with a hat trick. Michael McComb scored two with Nick Wolfmeier and Jack Horrocks each sounding the horn once.

In the final game of the weekend for Lindenwood, the Spartans kept it close, trailing 4-1 at the end of the second, before the Lions poured in six in the final period to pull away. Lindenwood out shot Michigan State 53-18 with Braysen Raegan stopping 17 of 18 in goal. Brayden Uglow earned Star No. 1 honors with a hat trick and an assist, Nolan Lawrenz was named Star No. 2 with a pair of goals and two assists, and Ryan Everding received Star No. 3 recognition with two goals and an assist.

With the four wins, roller hockey Black improved to 12-1 for the season. The Lions wrap up the regular season at the final MCRHL event February 21-22. Lindenwood is scheduled to play St. Louis Community College (JC) at 8 a.m., Maryville D3 at 9 a.m., and Ohio State AA at 8 p.m. on Saturday, followed by a single contest against Michigan Tech D3 at 9 a.m. Sunday morning. All games will be played at Vetta 70 in St. Peters, Missouri.
