Women's ACHA ice hockey won its eighth straight game by a score of 3-1 over Grand Canyon University Friday night at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.
The Lions took an early 1-0 lead when
Kennedy Frank sounded the horn at the 7:30 mark, assisted by
Risa Shatford and
Rylee Gee.
Tessa O'Connor scored what proved to be the game-winner when she took the puck and broke free unassisted at 2:42 in the second. O'Connor then earned the primary helper on a Callie Phillipe drive at 1:33 in the third, with Anaïs Fortier getting the second assist. That made it 3-0 Lindenwood until the Antelopes broke the shutout with their only goal in the final 24 seconds of regulation.
Maia Busi stopped all but one of the shots she faced to earn the win for the Lions, who improved to 9-2-1 overall.
They return to Women's Midwest Collegiate Hockey (WMCH) play for a two-game series with Midland University November 13-14. The puck drops at 9:30 p.m. Saturday night and at 5:20 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the Centene Community Ice Center.
