Women’s ACHA Hockey Stifled by Liberty in ACHA Nationals Pool Play

Women's ACHA hockey was stifled in a 4-0 shutout loss to Liberty University Thursday afternoon in the first round of pool play at the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Women's Division I National Championship at Maysa Arena in Minot, North Dakota.

The Lions came into the contest as the No. 2 seed in the pool, but the top seeded Flames controlled the game from the beginning, taking the lead at the 9:07 mark of the opening period.  Liberty added an even-strength goal just 12-seconds into the middle 20-minutes and increased the margin to 3-0 with another tally about seven minutes later.  The Flames rounded out their scoring with a power play goal early in the third.
Lindenwood was outshot 49 to 10 and Lions netminder Emily McDonald did her best to stop 45 of the 49 pucks she faced.

Lindenwood won't have much time to regroup as the second game in pool play is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday morning against Adrian College, once again at Maysa Arena in Minot.
