Lions Put 28 Shots on Goal in Loss to Maryville

Women's ACHA ice hockey put 28 shots on goal but could not find the back of the net in a 6-0 loss to Maryville in Women's Midwest College Hockey (WMCH) action Saturday night at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.

Ten of those shots came in the first but the Lions spent a good portion of the period on the penalty kill as the Saints had four power plays. They were successful on one of them at the 6:23 mark for a 1-0 advantage and that's where the score stayed until the first intermission.

Lindenwood was still in the game entering the second, but Maryville added four goals in the middle frame, all at even-strength. Those goals came at 5:26, 7:29, 14:57, and 15:15, the last of them giving Saints forward Haley Beckett a hat trick.

Another power play goal at the 4:25 mark of the third gave Maryville their 6-0 margin.

The Saints outshot the Lions 46 to 28 and Evi Allerding made 40 saves on the 46 shots she faced in the loss.

Lindenwood is now 0-8 in the WMCH and 0-13 overall as the team wraps up play in 2025. The Lions will return to the court in the new year for another WMCH game against Maryville on Wednesday, January 7. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. at the Maryville Ice Center in Chesterfield, Missouri.
