Women's ACHA ice hockey was stopped by Minot State 6-0 on Thursday at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri. It was another busy day at the office for Lions goaltender
Erica Didocha, as she stopped 63 of the 69 shots faced for a .913 save percentage.
The Beavers opened scoring late in the first period on an even-strength goal at 16:40. It remained 1-0 until the second when Minot State scored three in a six-minute span. The first came at 3:15 to make it 2-0, then goals came at 6:12 and the 9:00 mark for a 4-0 Beavers advantage. Minot State added two more in the third at 1:50 and 8:30 for the final 6-0 margin.
The Beavers outshot Lindenwood 69-29 while going scoreless on two man-advantage chances. The Lions were unable to convert on four power plays, including a brief five-on-three that came in the second.
With the loss, Lindenwood is now 0-17-1. The Lions were scheduled to face the University of Minnesota on Friday and the University of Jamestown on Saturday at home, but both of those games were cancelled due to the pending winter storm. Women's ACHA hockey will next play a two-game series on the road against Miami University (Ohio) January 31 and February 1. The opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m. EST on Friday and at 12 p.m. EST on Saturday at the Goggin Ice Center in Oxford, Ohio.
