The Lindenwood cross country teams began the 2016 season on Thursday night in Kirksville, Mo. at the Truman State Dual Meet.
Newcomer
Omar Es Salmouny led the men, placing second overall and first on the team with a time of 12:34.10.
Colin Cernik and
Austin Crowe were right behind him with times of 12:35.30 and 12:36.20, respectively.
Jerod Broadbooksand
Ero Doce finished fifth and sixth, respectively, while
Travis Staebell placed 11th,
Joaquin Castillo finished 19th, and
Adam Kelso ended the race in 21st.
In total, the men accumulated 20 points as a team to defeat the Bulldogs.
On the women's side, another newcomer paced the team as
Anna-Lena Theisen finished in second place with a time of 15:36.80.
Freshman
Kayli Brower placed seventh overall and second on the team, while
Ashley LaPointe placed 11th with a time of 17:02.30.
Amanda Brisso finished 14th, while
Kelsey Robertson,
Elyse Flores, and
Brenna Duncan placed 17th, 18th, and 19th, respectively.
Both the men and women get back to action Friday, September 8 for the Forest Park Cross Country Invitational in St. Louis, Mo.
